Cooking Vegan Soy Wings/Legs

Posted by Shobha Negi on

These make a delightful starter or can be served as a main course. Here are our cooking recommendations.

Soy Wings:

May be prepared in an over at 350F until crispy on the outside

Cooked in an air-fryer until crispy

You can either eat them as is, or may coat them with you favorite sauce.

Our favorite Buffalo Sauce for wings (Courtesy of

  • ⅔ cup hot pepper sauce

  • ½ cup cold vegan butter

  • 1½ tablespoons white vinegar

  • 1 tbsp paprika

  • ¼ tsp vegan Worcestershire sauce

  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper

  • ⅛ tsp garlic powder

  • saltto taste

  1. Place the hot sauce, vegan butter or oil, vinegar, worcestershire sauce, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and salt in a blender and mix until smooth.

  2. Pour into a small saucepan and place over medium heat. Bring to a boil while constantly stirring with a whisk.

  3. As soon as the liquid begins to bubble on the sides of the pot, remove from heat, and set aside.

  4. Brush on wings or use as a dip.

Or try our favorite, Garlic Dipping Sauce: (Courtesy of

  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed (or if you don't have a garlic press, smashed with a mortar and pestle =P)

  • 1 tbsp vegan butter

  • 1/4 tsp dried thyme

  • 1/4 tsp dried basil

  • 3 tbsp vegan mayo

  • A pinch of salt (optional)

  1. Combine the pressed garlic, butter, thyme, and basil in a bowl and microwave until the butter is melted and bubbling (about 30-45 seconds). This kind of cooks the garlic a bit and sort of re-hydrates the dried herbs.

  2. Remove from microwave and stir in mayo until smooth and incorporated. Add a pinch of salt if you like it saltier, but I didn't find I needed it.

Soy Legs:

You can also prepare these using the same methods as the wings, but our favorite to date is to coat them in Goldenfry batter (available on our website) and Bread crumbs. Lightly Fry until golden!
